Natan Waintrub is a PhD student at the Centre for Transport Studies – University College London. His doctoral research focuses on children’s mobility and its relationship with the physical and the social environment. With the use of quantitative and qualitative tools, he intends to reveal the key features of the environment that should be included in public policy design. He graduated with honours in both Master of Science and Transport Engineering degree at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (PUC) in 2015. During his M.Sc. thesis, he designed and applied highly sophisticated discrete choice models to encourage real estate developers to get involved in socially integrated projects in the vicinity of mass transit stations in Santiago. After graduating, he was professor instructor at the PUC—and worked on multidisciplinary studies about public transport, urban affairs and policy. His work has led to publications in international journals and international conferences expositions. He has been awarded by Chilean institutions (Government of Chile and the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile) and international institutions (Centre of Excellence for Bus Rapid Transit Across Latitudes and Cultures and Lincoln Institute of Land Policy) for his M.Sc. thesis and to continue his post-graduate studies.
