My main areas of research and teaching combine urban studies, Latin American studies, and local urban politics in both U.S. and Latin American settings. My work has examined the relationship between neoliberal governance and urban marginality in Buenos Aires, neoliberal governance and middle-class identities in Buenos Aires, the politics of contemporary Chicago, and current gentrification processes in Chicago's Bronzeville, Pilsen and Humboldt Park.
I have published in Urban Studies, Urban Geography, Geoforum and Urban Affairs Review, and book chapters on the topics of middle-class identities, urban sustainability in Buenos Aires, and neoliberalism in Chicago.
